My son (15 months) has always needed extra support with napping, and while sometimes frustrating, it has been an easy way to get extra sleep in for myself too. Naps are a survival strategy!
I am literally scoping out my day at this very moment to decide when I can fit in a Power Nap. I loved this post so much. Thank you for sharing my work, also!
Your anecdote about your son ratting you out reminded me of the time one of my little siblings answered the same question with "My mom's favorite thing to do is laundry." Kids, man!
I feel no shame about napping! I’d collapse at 4 pm if I didn’t! (Also, Matthew Walker’s book Why we Sleep is the perfect way to help all your friends/family understand the importance of sleep/naps. I recommend it to everyone.
I, too, love a good nap. I'm always up for a couch nap, usually under a blanket unless it's blazing hot, but the house needs to be empty for me to do that as we have an open floor plan. Mostly I nap in bed, under a light blanket, no jammies. If I really need a good snooze I slip in ear plugs and put on a face mask to block the light. I don't nap every day, only on occasion, and my very favorite time to do so is during a rainfall or snowstorm.
I have to say, I’m jealous, but you have my full support in all the naps! If I nap, my night time sleep isn’t good, so I have become very good at going to bed quite early.
I love that! A little siesta for everyone. I think the world would be a better place if everyone had a hard shutdown for even a small part of the day every day.
Oh I love the idea of even very short resting periods. I sometimes think if I can't have at least a full hour, it's not worth it. But ten minutes of rest is better than zero minutes!

Oh totally. Especially when they’re that young! They need so much and it’s wonderfully exhausting.
Well, now I want a Level 5 nap! I love that moment of peak friendship - hiking and napping companionably.
Gosh, I love naps, and I love that I'm not the only one!
Glad to find a fellow napper, Alexa!

I'll have to check that book out! Thanks for the recommendation Shannon.

Ahhh yes, the rainstorm nap is PEAK nap experience.

Ahh that makes sense. An early bedtime is even better I think!
